Austraaalia

Well, got another appointment with the travel agent on Monday, but we haven't really sorted anything since last time, as we've all been busy with work, uni and college. We are meant to be deciding between getting a Greyhound buspass or an Rail Australia train pass.

Rail Australia:

  • For $890 I can get an 6 month Ausrail pass - means we can travel on all long distance services in any direction as often as we like. Valid on CountryLink, Great Southern Rail and Queensland Rail.

  • For $450.45 can get an East Coast Discovery pass from Melbourne to Cairns - unlimited travel in one direction. Valid on CountryLink.
Greyhound:

  • For $1,494 a Best of the East coach pass - valid for 365 days. Travel from Cairns - Brisbane - Alice Springs - Sydney - Melbourne - Adelaide.

We're travelling up the east coast starting in Melbourne, maybe up to Adelaide first because we have family there, and then round and up to Cairns. It's quite a bit of money so we don't want to rush into it.

Also we've been looking into a work and play package, so that we're sorted as soon as we land with a place to stay - and in the brochure it says they can pick you up from the airport too.

Ozzzzz

I forgot to put up here the other day because I've been so excited by it all..

BOUGHT MY TICKET TO AUSTRALIA!!!

November 24th, London - Melbourne

It is going to be the best time of my life.

London Trip

On Wednesday we went on a trip to London starting at the London Eye and walking along the Embankment. I took a lot of photos at the skate park bit of all the street art graffiti and stickers. Then we walked up to the Hayward Gallery. I was so disappointed with the art there. On the right is an example on one of the pieces on show there, by Sarah Lucas. I really don't like it, but that was probably the best thing there. Then we went to the Tate Modern which was a lot better even though I'd seen most of the art before. The Sunflower seeds by Ai Weiwei were amazing. There were millions of life like looking seeds but were actually made of porcelain. Also on the way to the Tate there were two men making sand sculptures which was probably my favourite part of the trip. Here are some photos I took.

Chrissie Abbott

I was trying to find an artist that combines photography and illustration and have come across Chrissie Abbott. I really like the one of the man covering his face and all the patterns coming out from behind him. I think something like this could work really well for my project.

Gina Triplett and Matt Curtius
Got a few really nice illustrations but I liked this one particularly, with a quite a few cartoon-like flowers and more realistic ones all together and it just goes so well with such bright colours.

Final Major Project

Our FMP lasts for 10 weeks so I wanted to choose something that I'm really interested it. I'm going to re brand my local festival Lounge on the Farm. I've been the last 3 years and each year they get bigger and better and are now trying to appeal to people all over the country rather than just Canterbury.

I want to create next year's posters, tickets, flyers, wristbands etc.

I'm looking forward to this one, a lot of work to put in though..
